Mexico Trip

My trip to Mexico was interesting from the start. When I just past Lafayette on I-10 I witness this person being a very careless driver on the road. He basically "zooms" into the right lane to pass about 5 cars. He then ATTEMPTS to "zoom" back into the left lane where he side-swipes a Toyota Camery. Oh yeah, he is in a Dodge Dually. So does he think to himself "OH NO", not really, he just keeps going like nothing happen. It was crazy. I mean he was going about 80 mph, almost pushes this guy completely off of the road and KEEPS GOING! So I speed up to get this guys license plate number and call this in. It had already been called in (by the victim) and I had to stay as a witness. There was a state trooper about 3 miles up the road. He pulled over the big truck and got him good.

So when I get to Mexico I was asked what I wanted to do: "I want to kill a deer or anything thing else". The first hunt, I shot a huge feral hog. I am thinking no less then like 300 lbs. It was just before dark so I could not find any blood. I went back the next morning and found pieces of pig bone, but no pig. I guess that the 300 mag. was not enough power for that fat thing. They did not want to look for that stinky worthless animal anyway. Coyotes got him later on.
Later on that day I was picked up from the stand so we could go watch a deer get trapped by a guy in a helicopter shooting a large cannon that spreads a net over the deer. It was getting trapped because a person who looked at the deer on the ranch was able to predict how much that deer and his genetics could earn the ranch owner. Can anyone guess? Probably not, because I am almost sure that nobody would have guessed $1,000,000. You can see him in a picture below. So they trapped him and he is now in a pin with 9 female deer that he will breed.
Another day another story. One of the mornings that was rainy and we did not think that we were going to go out because it was so wet ended up being one of the best mornings of my hunting life. I have been seeing deer all week that people would not even believe existed. It is still very surprising to me every time I see deer that HUGE. This particular morning I saw this huge 9 pt. and watched him for a while. Then there was this HUGE 10 pt. that walked out from the other side. Not to mention all of the other bucks that were around me. These two were just spectacular deer. Well, they ended up meeting each other about 75 yards from my stand. They then started to FIGHT! Yes...FIGHT! It was the greatest thing that someone could witness in nature. I could not believe what I was seeing! The fight lasted over 20 minutes. I have most of it on video. My hands were getting so cold filming the fight so I had to stop and warm them up. I also stopped to take some still shots, and my video time was limited since I can only fit about 30 minutes on one DVD. So if anyone is interested give me a call and you can come watch the fight. (I think that paper-per-view makes about $30 off of this kind of stuff) So you would think, "wow that is the perfect day", not yet. Later on that afternoon (my last hunt for the trip), we found one of the two deer that I was given the "ok" to kill. So long story short we creped him about 15 minutes, made sure that it was definitely the correct deer, and I got to shoot him. He dropped right where was, perfect shot. It was a team effort between the spotting of the deer, the creep, and my deer stopper (the guy who yelled "HHHHEEEEEYYYY" when I had a clear shot on the deer and needed it to stop in the clearing).

So aside from the Cheese Nachos and great meals and relaxing, that was my short version of a wonderful trip.

I encourage you to look at these pictures:
