My first project!

I am sure that most of you are wondering what I am doing now that I am an engineer. I designed an elevated highway that was built just a couple of days ago. I guess I may have had a couple of bad calculations because it failed.

Not really...This is what happens to a bridge when a truck, carrying 8600 gallons of fuel, hits it. It is cool to see how most of the concrete stayed in tack after falling off of its supports.

By land or sea?

I can see the point of people wanting to play with a car that goes on the road and on the water, but just how many people could afford this thing?

I was not very interested until I saw someone wakeboarding behind the car. Then I scrolled down and saw that they have the jetski/4-wheeler - now that's an ATV!

How to get your toilet sparkling clean!

1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.

2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power-wash" and rinse".

6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.

9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean.

This post is just for you Kelly.

This past weekend was a good weekend to be out on the water. Justin and I took advantage of that and went do a little extra curricular activity called “catching”, some of you may have heard it referred to as “fishing”. Of course now that both Justin and I have the Costa Del Mar sunglasses we are the coolest catcherman on the water. We did a little bit of sight fishing in the morning and a lot of blind casting into the rough/dirty waters in the afternoon. Justin wins the big fish of the day award with a NICE 34" red. I win the funniest catch of the day with a nice catch right at the boat. (story: Justin hung a fish and was reeling it in. As he was about to pull the fish in the boat we notice there was another fish with him (trying to get some of that food from the other fish) so I, being the nice person I am, gave him some food. I caught the second fish, literally, two feet from the nose of the boat. So it was funny.)

Yes, it is nice to pull in a limit of red, but it is even better to eat that limit of red! We were able to take care of some of that eating on Sunday evening. Yum Yum.

signed me,

Scott

God bless you and have a great day!

Up for a movie?

Amanda and I went on a date night last night. Now I know that I do not like it when people tell me a lot about a movie. Although, I do feel like I have to say a little bit about Ocean's 13. We were lucky enough to decide on watching this movie.

My opinion: WONDERFUL! - A MUST SEE! I give a full recommendation to everyone to go see this movie.

Work

Since I started back with The Shaw Group this summer they have been talking about hiring me full time. I thought about it, talked with my adviser at school, and decided I could do both a full time job and school at the same time. I have one class and a project to do before I graduate. I will be doing the project over the summer (most of it) and my class in the fall. Shaw did come back and offer me the job. All of it is official, I am an Engineer now. I know most of you are wondering how much I am going to be making. I have no problem saying that I am going to pull in $1,250,000 per year.

Traditions

If you wanted beauty back then, you had to pay the price. I do not want to repeat a bunch of information so here is a website that I found to learn about foot binding - how? and why?

Fun Roller-coaster

These people look like they are having fun, right? WRONG. They were caught upside down on the roller-coaster when the power went out. They had 12 people on the ride. It is a good thing that they did not have any small kids slip out on the ride! A fire truck had to rescue all of the riders, the rescue took about 30 minutes. They were at the highest point of the ride, 150 feet.

I hope that never happens to me!

MEXICO 2007 - Mud Hole

This is one of the MANY mud holes that I would have had to go through with my car if I were to have tried leaving on my own. It is a good ... all » thing that I did not try. I do not think that I would have made it. They had some nasty spots.

MEXICO 2007 - Deer Video

This is in a deer pin on the ranch. They keep deer in there for breeding purposes. This particular deer is a northern species of whitetail. His nice velvet antlers are his first set, yeah he is going to be big one day!

We had some protien pellets that we were feeding to the deer. For some reason he really liked me. He actaully licked my face at one point! It was a very cool experience.

MEXICO 2007

What a trip! The ranch in Mexico never fails to provide wonderful, relaxing entertainment. There is everything to look forward to, from sitting out by the pool doing nothing, to sitting in a boat on the lake catching largemouth bass. I cannot get bored out there!

I figured I could show some highlights of the trip.

We left on Saturday morning hoping to get to dry roads on the ranch. We received information the roads were flooded the week before, so there was a chance they would still be a mess. When we got there we found only two mud holes, big mud holes. The first one was a long stretch of mud that I knew that I could just fly through it and make it across the mud; the second one was about a 10 inch deep water hole. I inspected that hole, found the deep truck ruts and just straddled those ruts and ran through the mud; of course we made it through. When we got to the ranch the fun began.

There is a 75 acre lake that is stocked with largemouth bass. This is one of the smaller bass that I pulled out of there. We fished early mornings and late evenings each day. Right now there is a 200 acre lake, closer to the ranch house, being slowly filled in by rain water. It has already been stocked with 2,000 bass.
It is not a jeep until you take the top off! That is exactly what we did when we got there. It was so fun riding around the ranch shooting stuff from the jeep. Perfect exit/entry from the jeep when there is no top to worry about.

My kills after a late morning run. I killed one cotton tail and 5 birds (quail and dove). We usually stock up on birds and rabbit and eat it later during the trip.

This is a bird that I was NOT going to eat. That is a buzzard. They eat every dead carcass that they can find. I am sure that he got eaten by all of his friends later on that day.
This is a tarantula that Amanda found in one of the houses out there. It was still alive but very slow, so we played with it.
That rattle snake is actually the first rattle snake seen at the actual ranch house. They usually do not hang around there I guess. Amanda, Kristen, and Annette spotted the snake and got the workers to come kill it. I was out fishing so I was not able to take part in the capture/killing.
Since it rained a little over an inch the morning that I was leaving the ranch I was not able to drive out on the roads. This was the solution to getting through the mud.
