MEXICO 2007

What a trip! The ranch in Mexico never fails to provide wonderful, relaxing entertainment. There is everything to look forward to, from sitting out by the pool doing nothing, to sitting in a boat on the lake catching largemouth bass. I cannot get bored out there!

I figured I could show some highlights of the trip.



We left on Saturday morning hoping to get to dry roads on the ranch. We received information the roads were flooded the week before, so there was a chance they would still be a mess. When we got there we found only two mud holes, big mud holes. The first one was a long stretch of mud that I knew that I could just fly through it and make it across the mud; the second one was about a 10 inch deep water hole. I inspected that hole, found the deep truck ruts and just straddled those ruts and ran through the mud; of course we made it through. When we got to the ranch the fun began.


There is a 75 acre lake that is stocked with largemouth bass. This is one of the smaller bass that I pulled out of there. We fished early mornings and late evenings each day. Right now there is a 200 acre lake, closer to the ranch house, being slowly filled in by rain water. It has already been stocked with 2,000 bass.

It is not a jeep until you take the top off! That is exactly what we did when we got there. It was so fun riding around the ranch shooting stuff from the jeep. Perfect exit/entry from the jeep when there is no top to worry about.

My kills after a late morning run. I killed one cotton tail and 5 birds (quail and dove). We usually stock up on birds and rabbit and eat it later during the trip.

This is a bird that I was NOT going to eat. That is a buzzard. They eat every dead carcass that they can find. I am sure that he got eaten by all of his friends later on that day.

This is a tarantula that Amanda found in one of the houses out there. It was still alive but very slow, so we played with it.

That rattle snake is actually the first rattle snake seen at the actual ranch house. They usually do not hang around there I guess. Amanda, Kristen, and Annette spotted the snake and got the workers to come kill it. I was out fishing so I was not able to take part in the capture/killing.

Since it rained a little over an inch the morning that I was leaving the ranch I was not able to drive out on the roads. This was the solution to getting through the mud.
